Betty Cohen is

a seasoned media brand builder and C-suite executive, considered a “hit creator” and a sought-after advisor and expert in pop culture phenomenon creation. Ranked as one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women, Cohen was the founding President of Cartoon Network/Adult Swim/Boomerang, and later served as President, CEO of Lifetime Entertainment Networks when it was the top-rated women’s network in the country.

Betty is currently building a new media company, Hearts & Minds, tapping into her passions, talent and visionary insight to fill a void in  culture-shifting media for tween girls.

Betty is known for developing innovative solutions in fields where learning, technology and entertainment merge. Her brand building instincts, executive leadership for trail-blazing companies, and deep network of industry and talent relationships enable her to build massively engaged followings across platforms and user bases as technology revolutionizes creation, distribution, popularization and viewer/user behavior. 

As founding President of Cartoon Network, Betty launched and grew the network over 9 years into a global business valued at $3B, green-lighting such hit shows as “The PowerPuff Girls,” “Dexter’s Lab” and “Samurai Jack” as well as launching Cartoon Network Studio, Cartoon Network.com, Boomerang and Adult Swim.

As President and CEO of Lifetime Networks, Betty repositioned the network to attract younger demographics: green-lighting “Army Wives,” Lifetime’s first original dramatic series to become a hit, running seven seasons; investing to drive growth of Lifetime Movie Network as flanker brand; and transforming Lifetime’s digital offering from purely TV promotional website to more robust business across web, mobile casual games and SVOD.

As a consultant, Betty has developed brand and content strategy for such clients as: Speakaboos (now Homer), Lynda.com (acquired by LinkedIn), Meredith Corporation, Committee for Children, Fred Rogers Institute and Paley Center for Media.

She has also been a sought-after Advisory board member, working with companies and organizations like Speakaboos, News Literacy Project, Roadtrip Nation, and We Are Family Foundation.

Betty has been inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame and received the prestigious “Muse Award” from NY Women in Film and TV.  Cohen earned a BA in Communications from Stanford University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
